We process your personal data with care and in compliance with the terms of the law and regulatory requirements. The Company is responsible for the collection and processing of data via its smart charging platform and mobile application (hereinafter "Youree App"). The purpose of this privacy statement is to inform you about how the Company processes and uses your personal data, and to inform you of your rights under the European General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR").

1. The purposes of the personal data collected by the Company

The Company collects and processes your personal data to provide its smart charging services ("Services"). The purposes of the Services are:

  • Help you save money on your electricity bill by charging your electric vehicle (EV) at times when the lowest electricity rates apply, usually during off-peak hours.
  • Generate revenue from the power grid by turning off and on or reducing your electricity consumption during the hours your EV is charging, such as when your energy provider benefits from lower electricity purchase costs, or when it needs to reduce an imbalance between its customers' electricity consumption and production.
  • Generate revenue for your national or regional grid operator by charging your EV at times when it is necessary to reduce an imbalance in electricity consumption or production levels, thereby ensuring grid stability and security.

The legal basis for these activities is the contract between you and The Company, as defined in the Terms of Use.

Specifically, The Company will process your personal data to:

  • Identify and verify its customers in collaboration with its automotive and energy partners.
  • Calculate and implement an optimal load plan for the EV(s) linked to your account.
  • Provide its energy partners with proof of the smart charging services it provides, allowing it to claim and process any benefits.
  • Calculate all smart recharge benefits (savings and earnings) and provide a refund for any earnings, if required under the terms of the contract between the company and you (refund functionality will be available at a later date).
  • Provide customer support and answer all questions regarding the Company and its services.
  • Improve our services by conducting research and development on people's billing habits and the services themselves.

2. How is your data collected, processed and shared?

Your personal data is either collected directly from you when you provide information manually in the Company's application, or collected indirectly from publicly available sources, or, with your explicit consent, collected from our partners in the energy and automotive industries.

We ask for your explicit consent in the Company's application for the right to collect and share the data necessary to provide each Smart Charging Service. Specifically, we request data regarding your home meter's historical load curve for the relevant period. Our use does not go beyond the stipulations of the energy code and regulations of your country of use.

3. The Company's partners

In connection with its Services, the Company acts as the Data Processor for those Services. It also partners with several companies (Data Processors or Data Processors, as the case may be) to enable the technical and financial operations of the Services.

Distribution System Operators (DSOs) are responsible for managing the load and security of the energy network in your local area. They are also responsible for managing your home metering data (both for your energy consumption and/or your energy production). In some countries, DSOs have developed secure data platforms that can be accessed by third-party service providers such as the Company with the express consent of the home energy contract holder. In these cases, the Company uses these arrangements to automatically collect your home's meter code (in some countries this is the EAN, MPAN or PDL code). The Company also collects certain technical data relating to your energy contract, such as the power subscribed to by your home, the off-peak periods applicable to your meter and your historical electricity consumption indices. The Company does this to comply with national open data regulations and to enable it to develop new digital energy management services.

4. Retention and deletion of personal data

The Company retains your personal data only for as long as is necessary for us to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected, including to meet any legal, accounting or reporting requirements.

In determining the appropriate retention period for your personal data, we consider the amount, nature and sensitivity of the data. We also consider the potential risk of harm from unauthorized access to or disclosure of your personal data. In all cases, we consider the purposes for which we process your data, and whether we could achieve that purpose by other means while complying with all necessary legal requirements.

For example, the GPS location of your vehicle is never stored by the company, and this information is never shared with other parties. This information is only used to verify whether or not the vehicle is at the smart charging location you have designated.

Your payment details are kept for as long as necessary to enable us to comply with our legal and regulatory requirements. This is generally seven years, unless the law requires a longer period.

5. Personal data required for your account settings and smart charging services

We collect the following data:

  • Identity information used to identify you: This includes your first name, last name, email address and an encrypted version of the password you have chosen.
  • Address data used to determine your smart charge location: this includes your country, address, zip code and house number.
  • Profile Data used to provide you with personalized services: this includes the name of your energy provider, the make and model of your EV, your charging preferences and settings in the Company's application, and any information you provide in response to surveys or through customer feedback.
  • Connected Car Account Data used to establish the connection with your EV: depending on the make and model of your EV, this includes your Vehicle Identification Number(VIN), and/or your Connected Car credentials (this data is used only once to verify your account with the car manufacturer and retrieve access to our Services; your credentials are never stored by us). The Company also processes data necessary for us to access services provided by your vehicle manufacturer that are required for smart charging; you must authorize us to access this data on your behalf.
  • EV data used to calculate an optimal charging schedule for your EV and to monitor the performance of our smart charging services: this includes information about the status of your vehicle, the state of charge of your battery, telemetry data, and information about the GPS location of your vehicle. We use this data to ensure that we are intelligently charging your electric vehicle only at the location you designate in the app. We validate this by measuring your energy consumption and telemetry data. We never store your electric vehicle's GPS location data.
  • Pay-out Data used to pay out earnings to you directly or through our partners: these are your initials and surname, the IBAN of your bank account, the amount to be paid out to you, your load data information and your contract number with your energy supplier.
  • Technical Data used to improve our Services: this includes information about your mobile device type and company application version, time zone, country of use, browser type and version, operating system, mobile platform, and other information about the technology used by your device solely to access our Services.
  • Tracking Data used to improve our Services: this includes information that we or others collect about you from cookies and similar tracking technologies, such as web beacons, pixels and mobile identifiers.
  • Marketing and communication data used to communicate with you: this is based on your preferences to receive marketing communications from us and our partners.

We share the following data:

  • Data on the EV account(s) connected with your EV manufacturer to allow us to connect your EV to the company's app, if eligible for our services: this allows us to optimize the smart charging program for your EV and, if necessary, investigate technical issues with customer support.

6. Specific personal data needed to save on your energy bill

If you have an on-peak/off-peak tariff with your energy supplier, whether or not they have a partnership with the Company in your country, then the Company may collect the following data:

  • Your kWh rate information by time of day/week, which is usually listed on your energy provider's bill, to calculate your savings and charge your EV using the lowest off-peak rates.
  • Your energy contract number used to obtain information on the kWh rate applicable to your energy contract directly from your energy supplier.

7. Specific personal data needed to generate revenue from grid balancing service providers in eligible countries.

Data that is collected:

  • Electricity supplier account data, including the full name of the energy contract holder linked to the electricity metering point at the home load location, as well as the electricity meter code (in various countries, this code is known as EAN, MPAN or PDL code). With your explicit consent, the Company will also collect the following data:
    1) Your historical electricity consumption data for the relevant meter point. This allows your designated grid operator to cross-validate the balancing effect of your EV's smart load with information about the grid itself.
    2) Your explicit consent to link your metering point to the balancing perimeters of the relevant BSP. This allows the BSP to provide grid balancing services to the regional or national grid operator, allowing you to generate revenue in accordance with your specific grid code and regulations.

Data that is shared with the DSO:

  • Address and account information for the electricity supplier from your home charging location. It is also used to collect specific data from your meter, such as off-peak hours to provide grid balancing services.

    Data that is shared with the BSP and the TSO or DSO:

  • Electricity supplier account data used by the DSO or TSO to add your meter point to the relevant balancing perimeters of the BSP. This data is also used to collect specific data from your meter, such as your historical electricity consumption data. This allows the relevant TSO to cross-validate the performance of the network balancing services and reach a financial settlement with the BSP.
  • VE data used to cross-validate the performance of system balancing services and to reach a financial settlement between the Company, the BSP and the designated system operator. This data is calculated by the Company on behalf of the BSP.

8. Security measures to protect your data

The security of your personal data is very important to us. In view of the risks associated with the processing of personal data, we take all necessary physical, logical, administrative and organizational measures to secure your personal data. We ensure that your data is not misinterpreted or damaged and that it is not made available to unauthorized third parties. These protections extend to the storage of your personal data on secure servers issued by our provider.

9. Cookies

Cookies are small pieces of data that are not used for identification purposes but learn about your usage and browsing behavior based on how you interact with the Company's website and the Company's application.

The Company uses several types of cookies to analyze the quality and effectiveness of our Services. We also use cookies for marketing and advertising campaigns on our own website(s) and on certain third party website(s). You will be asked to consent to these cookies when you visit our website.

10. Your rights

You have the right to ask the company to access, modify, restrict or delete your personal data.

In addition, you have the right to object to the processing of your personal data. After the end of your use of the Company's application and services (as detailed in the Terms of Use), your personal data is deleted within twelve months, unless the Company has been required to retain your personal data by law or by the competent authorities. The Company is legally required to retain relevant personal data for tax purposes for seven years.

Where the Company processes your personal data on the basis of the performance of a contract, you also have the right to data portability.

This privacy statement may be changed or adjusted at any time. In this case, you as a user will be informed at least two weeks in advance of any changes. You will also be informed via the company's application once the changes take effect.
